Headmaster's Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to the Chinthurst website and hope it serves to present an effective insight into the dynamics behind ‘The Chinthurst Family’.

Chinthurst prides itself on providing excellent pastoral care to all pupils on an individual basis, as observed in our recent ISI Inspection, Dec 2014 http://www.isi.net/schools/6329/ . Through this attention to the well-being of the pupils a happy family environment is created, enabling the implementation of all other aspects of schooling.

Our small class sizes allow precision with differentiation, optimising the progress of each individual pupil. A strong and experienced staff provide direction across all academic areas whilst complementing this with outstanding sporting, co-curricular, musical and artistic opportunity. At the core of the Chinthurst Community lies an innate, caring family culture; with the primary objective being to produce rounded, happy and balanced pupils, well equipped for their next challenge as they move to Senior School in Year 7.

As an 11+ School we place great importance on English, Mathematics and Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning. We ensure that pupils are suitably prepared for their entry process but equally identify the importance of offering balance within the curriculum. All pupils enjoy a wide range of experiences beyond the core areas: Science, Languages (French & Spanish), History, Geography, R.S., PSHE, Sport, Music, Art, Drama, I.C.T., and Design Technology all serve to fill the weekly timetable.

We are very proud of our pupil’s achievements; recently our Year 6 (January 2016) have all successfully gained places at their chosen Senior School, with no less than 6 Scholarships awarded. Destination schools for our successful ‘Class of 2016’ include: Box Hill, Caterham, Dunottar, Epsom College, Greenacre, Notre Dame Lingfield, Reigate Grammar School, St John’s, Whitgift and Worth.

The ‘Chinthurst Family Ethos’ is integral to all the fantastic achievements of the children, positive role models abound, from both staff and parents. Please enjoy looking at our website but always remember that, as in anything, greater clarity is always best achieved with first-hand experience. Please come and see for yourself the ‘Best Kept Secret in Tadworth’.

Kind regards,

Mr Tim Button. B. Ed (University Of London)
